2- seeing the sounds- the relationship between the music and the visuals which amplify the music (or condridict) 3- genre related style and iconography present 4- Multiple close ups of the main artist or vocalist: the creation of a star image to promote a recognisable brand image. Voyeurisim -where in your video are they trying to show you that the artist or someone in it is good looking. 6- intertextual references to other media texts may be present especially in humorous videos

Music video theory

Music videos 3 types: Performance clips- simple and direct Conceptual clips- further broken down into narrative and artistic. Narrative clip contains a visual story that is easy to follow. A pure narrative clip contains no lip synchronised singing. Apesh*t: the way they edited some of the shots in the music video was very simple but even though it was simple it was used in a precise and good way. In the the music video jay-z and Beyonce are presented as king and queen. These two artists are like king and queen of the music industry. They use low angle shots to create a sense of power and importance.
