analyse of mise-en-scene

l/o: to analyse the mise-en-scene of uptown funk. Focusing on the connotations and how they create meaning for the audience.


Costume & props
They were all wearing casual suits ,and him and 2 others was in hair dressers getting hair cut. The suits were 1990s style.
Lighting & color
High key lighting = upbeat mood, happiness, lively. The main one was wearing a colorful suits.
Performance
They were dancing and they were very sycronized , they was just going with the music.
Setting
It looks like it was set and produced and filmed in a new York sort of place.



P- Bruno mars celebrity image is promoted in her music video through media language.
E- Bruno does this using the costumes and props.
E- the main character (bruno), his costume is very vibrant whereas the 5 or 6 around hi are wearing quite dull and bleak color of clothes.
E- the props add the bruno's image. For example, when the limozines go down the road with bruno and others are surrounding it.

1. shot name- medium shot. why used ? its fits both characters in the frame and allowed us to see their faces. Why used here? to show relationship between two characters.

low key lighting is used on beyonces character whence looks down. By using low key lighting, beyonces face is half covered in shadows. The lighting could suggest to the audience that her character is depressed.

In this part of the video beyonce is shown in close up. here the lighting style has changed from light to dark. In my opinion this part of the video os lit this way because maybe she is realizing stuff that she didn't before.

Police outfit- shows she may have power. Shows she could be very serious and sets a intense and serious mood. Shows she is a police men.
